Reduce photo to 100 KB

Many online forms and applications require photos under 100 or 200 KB. Here's how to reduce yours.

Between 60% and 80%, the difference is barely noticeable.

Format

PNGs only get smaller when you reduce their dimensions. To save more, choose JPG or WebP.

    Settings to get under 100 KB

    A phone photo usually weighs 2 to 5 MB because it has a very high resolution. A form doesn't need that much: this page is already set to an 800-pixel maximum size and 65% quality, which for most photos brings the file under 100 KB and still looks good.

    1. Compress the photo with the preset settings.
    2. Check the final size in the list, below the button.
    3. If it's still over the limit, lower the quality to 50% and click “Compress images” again.

    Tip: If the form asks for specific pixel dimensions (for example, for an ID photo), also use Resize images to set the width and height.

    2. Keep the preset settings (800 px and 65%).
    3. Click “Compress images” and check the size before downloading.

    Frequently asked questions

    What if they ask for under 200 KB or 50 KB?

    For 200 KB, raise the quality to 80%. For 50 KB, lower it to 45% or use 800 px with low quality. You'll always see the final size before downloading.

    Will it look blurry?

    At 800 pixels it looks good on screen and in forms. You'd only notice if you zoomed in a lot or printed it large.
