Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser: your documents never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
How much smaller will it get?
It depends on the PDF. Scans and PDFs with lots of photos usually end up 50% to 90% smaller. Text-only PDFs are already small and barely change.
Why can't I select the text any more?
To reduce the size a lot, the “Recommended” and “Extreme” levels save each page as an image. If you need selectable text, use “Basic”.
What if the result is bigger?
We'll tell you, and you can download the original unchanged.
